Overview

While studying at Changemaker Educations, I worked on an outside concept project for Inconsu, a startup looking to connect travelers, travel companies, and local excursion providers on one platform.

Challenge

Our main design challenge was to meet the needs of all three usergroups while keeping the traveler experience simple and engaging.

We focused on three main goals:

Clearly show how the platform benefits each group
Design an experience that puts travelers first while also meeting business needs
Build a strong prototype to help start conversations with investors

approach

We had a lot of creative freedom and met regularly with the Inconsu team to stay aligned on our goals and constraints.

We began by researching:

* How travelers find, compare, and book excursions
What travel companies need in order to feel confident promoting third-party experiences
What local providers need to appear trustworthy and easy to contact

We used Miro to map out the ecosystem and user flows.

We made sure our choices were based on the traveler’s journey and checked that each step also worked for businesses and providers.

This kept us from adding too many features and helped us stay focused.

KEY FEATURES

Rather than designing a feature-heavy platform, we prioritized solutions that focused on being intuitive and easy to use.

Easy onboarding that helps travelers get started quickly
An easy to use hub reduces the chances that users will leave before booking
An travel hub that shows prices, reviews, and provider details to help travelers feel confident in their choices.
A streamlined booking flow to minimize hesitation between inspiration and purchase
Personalized suggestions guide travelers so they do not feel overwhelmed by too many options

These decisions were designed specifically to support travelers booking trips to South Africa with S.A. Travel, while remaining scalable to other destinations.

Design

We aimed to create a design that inspires people to travel, builds trust, and motivates them to book a trip.

We used:

Aa simple color palette and plenty of white space to make the interface feel calm and trustworthy
Added blue accents to guide attention, making sure they didn’t distract from the main content
Expandable sections let users choose how much information they want to see
High-quality images that create an emotional connection without compromising usability

With each design choice, we kept asking ourselves if it would help users feel confident enough to make a booking.

Outcome

We presented the final prototype and pitch deck to stakeholders from Inconsu and a partnering agency.

The concept clearly showed how the platform could work in real life, moving beyond just an idea to a usable product.

A few weeks later, we found out that the prototype helped Inconsu get funding from investors. Even though the product was not built yet, our work proved that clear UX thinking can lower uncertainty and give people more confidence in early-stage products.
